Israel in Miami

You don’t always have to travel thousands of miles to experience the wonders of Israel. Through the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s partnerships and community programs, we bring Israeli students, speakers and cultural events to Miami so that people of all ages and interests can learn and benefit. Read more below about our efforts to bring Israel and Miami closer together.

Community Shaliach (Emissary)

Headquartered at the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center and supported by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, our Community Shaliach literally brings the best of Israel to Miami through a variety of cultural, educational and family events throughout the year.

The shaliach works with Federation – as well as with synagogues, Jewish day schools, JCCs, youth groups and other civic organizations – to create and promote Israel-related activities in the Miami area. Through a variety of events, the shaliach promotes increased connections and greater understanding of Israel and our Jewish heritage.

Our community shaliach is Shmulik Kemper. He can be reached at 305.932.4200, ext. 128 or

Diller Teen Fellows Program

The Miami-Yerucham Partnership is proud to be partnering with the Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE) in funding the Diller Teen Fellows Program, an elite, action-oriented, teen-led leadership program with an international scope. Limited to only 40 young adults from Miami and Yerucham, the year-long commitment includes skill-building, social justice activities and a joint project in both Miami and Yerucham. The program develops future generations of leaders who will be dedicated to the Jewish people, Israel and community service.

The Diller Teens Fellows Program is an international leadership program for Jewish teens. Diller empowers participants to be active, effective leaders with a strong Jewish identity and a respect for pluralism. Diller Teens showcase a commitment to repairing the world and a sense of belonging and responsibility to their communities, Israel, and the Jewish people.

The Diller Program is dedicated to excellence in informal Jewish education. Throughout the year, Diller Teens in North America and Israel participate in educational workshops, weekend retreats, and create and implement social service projects. Highlights also include a three-week Seminar in Israel, the Diller Teen International Leadership Congress, and a 10-day peer exchange in North America during which North American communities host their Israel counterparts.

The Diller Teen Fellows Program will help bring the Miami-Yerucham Partnership, and a deep love for Israel, into the hearts and homes of so many in Miami’s Jewish community. For more information, click here.

Israel Campus Fellows

Jewish Agency Israel Fellows are charismatic young professionals who have served in the Israel Defense Forces. In their roles on campus, they share personal experiences of modern Israel through the lens of its socially-progressive values and its accomplishments in technology, life sciences, and the arts. Working hand-in-hand with Hillel professionals on campus, the Fellows support students and help them to grapple with complex issues that are often emotional and may seem contradictory. Israel Fellows often become the face of Israel for the North American students they work with, offering them a unique and authentic relationship with Israel and Israelis. There is an Israel Campus Fellow at the University of Miami Hillel and at Hillel Yad, at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC.
